Wotton House has built a reputation as one of the premier wedding venues in Surrey, showcasing fabulous 17th century architecture, 13 acres of gardens, Roman style temples and majestic sweeping driveway, this gorgeous historic house has it all.
First mentioned in the Domesday Book, there has been a substantial house here since the twelfth century, it was originally an old moated manor house. In the seventeenth century it was bought by the Evelyn family, on the proceeds of George Evelyn’s gunpowder mills. Its first reincarnation as a substantial country seat took place in 1670, and it was altered and improved several times after that, though never more radically than by William Evelyn in the second half of the Victorian period. who employed architect Henry Woodyer, to rebuild its east wing and give the whole place a sharp new/old Jacobean/Tudor façade. The house has been tastefully and lovingly renovated to help combine modern luxuries and amenities with historical sophistication and heritage.
There are various rooms, temples and suites available for your wedding ceremony, including the Evelyn Suite, which opens out onto stunning gardens complete with picturesque pond, ( fabulous backdrop for wedding pictures), the Old Library, a gorgeous vaulted room with a plethora of original features and the Roman Temple set in a private walled garden.
