In the UK we are particularly blessed with a plethora of incredible and diverse wedding venues and quite regularly I write about some of the CWH favourites. Claire has got very exciting plans afoot right now which include expanding her wedding hair and make up business into Norfolk. You may remember at the beginning of this year Claire got engaged: her fiancee is from Norfolk so it only makes sense to extend her business there. Watch this space for further developments. In the meantime I will be writing about a few of Claire’s favourite venues in that area from an 18th century stately home to a splendid rustic barn.
The Red Barn , Downham Market
The Red Barn is a unique 16th Century oak beamed medieval barn set in the heart of West Norfolk – perfect for weddings, receptions & special events. Hidden in the beautiful Norfolk countryside, easily accessible from King’s Lynn and Downham Market, The Red Barn has been a place to gather and celebrate over many years. Traditional Norfolk red brick walls surround giant oak timbers which in turn support the cavernous red roof. ( hence the name)
Le Strange Arms Hotel, Old Hunstanton
Located in the picturesque seaside town of Old Hunstanton on the north Norfolk coast, the Le Strange Arms Hotel is the perfect venue for the ultimate stylish Wedding reception Standing just a stone’s throw from the sea, with lawns leading down to a sandy beach, the hotel offers guests the perfect location to have a dreamy romantic day and has wonderful grounds for photo opportunities.
Knights Hill Hotel, Kings Lynn
Situated in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk countryside, on the outskirts of Kings Lynn and ideally located atop one of the highest points in West Norfolk, the Knights Hill Hotel & Spa offers the perfect venue for a wedding. With romantic views over the Wash and towards historic Castle Rising, the photographic opportunities are incredible. Once a working farm this venue has evolved into a stylish, character filled venue. The original buildings and additions over the years have blended seamlessly to create a most memorable, informal atmosphere throughout.
If you are looking for a more grandiose wedding venue, how about the amazing 18th century country mansion, Holkham Hall? This venue is one of England’s finest examples of the Palladian revival style of architecture and is both opulent and stylish .By any reckoning Holkham Hall in north Norfolk is one of the loveliest great houses of Europe, and its surrounding estate one of the best-managed in Britain. A total dream venue for your big day!
Situated in some of Norfolk’s most beautiful countryside but only 10 minutes from Norwich, is the stunning Kimberley Hall. Built in 1712 the house is situated in the substantial Kimberley Park, with its picturesque lake and walled garden, first laid out in 1762 by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. Steeped in history, and still a much loved home Kimberley Hall provides an elegant and stylish venue for your wedding day.
Hunters Hall Dereham
Back to scenic barns now. For weddings, the exclusive Hunter’s Hall is an unrivalled and magnificent option: a beautiful banqueting barn with exposed timber and subdued lighting accommodates up to 100 guests, while the Granary can cater for up to 180. The unspoilt rural location provides a perfect romantic backdrop for video and photography.
Dunston Hall, Norwich
Finally into Norwich itself., Though constructed in the mid-19th century, Dunston Hall harks back to early renaissance Britain. Its charming and evocative Elizabethan red-brick style makes for an atmospheric, tranquil and luxurious venue for your perfect wedding. On the edge of the the Norfolk Broads, it sits within 150 acres of beautifully maintained wooded parkland.
