Beautiful East Anglian Wedding Venues

In the UK we are particularly blessed with a plethora of incredible and diverse wedding venues and quite regularly I write about some of the CWH favourites.  Claire has got very exciting plans afoot right now which include expanding her wedding hair and make up business into East Anglia . You may remember earlier this year Claire got engaged: her fiancee is from Norfolk so it only makes sense to extend her business there. Watch this space for further developments. In the meantime here are just a few of Claire’s favourite venues in that area from a Medieval castle to a Jacobean manor house, all equally stunning. Firstly here is a round up of a few weddings and events that our fabulous team of stylists worked on over the Easter weekend.

Stylist’s Photos

Our accomplished creative director Claire worked at  on of her very  favourite venues last weekend , the Powder Mills Hotel near Battle. For a very English wedding look no further than the Powder Mills, this is an elegant 18th Century Country Hotel in 150 acres of beautiful parklands and lakes, situated close to the historic town of Battle adjoining the famous battlefield of 1066. Once the site of a famous Gunpowder works ( hence the name), the property has been skilfully converted into a fascinating Georgian country hotel. Wild geese, swans, kingfishers and herons are all regular guests of their grounds and this adds to the romantic feeling and scenery for your wedding photos.

Now here are just a few of CWH’s favourite wedding venues in East Anglia.

Hedingham Castle

Hedingham Castle in Essex  has a900 year old Norman keep and  stands in 160 acres of spectacularly beautiful landscaped gardens and woodland where the Lindsay family, descendants of the original owners, the De Veres, still live. Romantic, beautiful, ancient, historic and wild, it is somewhere to set your imagination free and is the backdrop for a fairytale wedding.

Glemham Hall

Glemham Hall is an Elizabethan stately home, set in around 300 acres  of park land on the outskirts of the village of Little Glemham in Suffolk. This impressive red brick  mansion is steeped in history and is the perfect setting for a traditional English county-style wedding. The grounds are spectacular, in  addition to the charming walled rose garden, there is a summerhouse, a lily pond and classical urns. garden.

Kimbolton Castle

A Wedding at Kimbolton Castle is a magical affair in a stately home with beautiful grounds. Kimbolton Castle, constructed after the Norman conquest and greatly remodelled in the 17th century, is best known for its associations with Katherine of Aragon. Now a school, the castle is available for exclkusive hire for your wedding day. The castle sits in our 120 acres of parkland and fields which include two small lakes, woodland and open areas and, together with the Castle itself, make an idyllic setting for your celebration and a spectacular backdrop for your photographs.

Magdalene College, Cambrige

Fancy getting married amongst the gleaming spires of Cambridge itself? For many years Magdalene College has been a fashionable venue for weddings and it is not difficult to understand why. Located in the centre of historic Cambridge, beautifully situated on the banks of the River Cam, Magdalene College is indeed an impressive location for your Wedding. The Pepys building, with its cloisters bedecked with hanging baskets, lends itself wonderfully for a civil ceremony. The immaculate college grounds are a perfect setting for champagne receptions and photographs. And the magnificent 16th century College Hall, where the wedding party dines by candlelight, creates an atmosphere that is scarce rivaled elsewhere in Cambridge.
